Md. Akhtaruzzaman Mia, Member of Parliament for Dinajpur-4, has been appointed a Whip of the Bangladesh National Parliament.

The Parliament Secretariat issued a notification to this effect on 2 March 2026. Exercising the power conferred by Article 3(1) of the Bangladesh Whips Ordinance 1972, the Honourable President appointed six Members of the 13th National Parliament as Whips — Md. Akhtaruzzaman Mia is one of them.

As Whip he will be responsible for maintaining party discipline in the House, ensuring the attendance of members in sessions and the smooth conduct of parliamentary business.

Upon receiving the appointment he expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and thanked his party, its leadership and the people of the Dinajpur-4 constituency.
